KRIFS Quartet Model Improving Livelihoods and Fueling Tourism in Kitagwenda District,Western Uganda

Kyabwanswa Rural Integrated Farming Systems (KRIFS) is a Community Based Organization (CBO) with its Head Office in Kitagwenda Town Council. KRIFS quartet model involves emphasis of integrating four agricultural activities namely: Apiculture, agro-forestry, coffee and at least one type livestock. The paper utilizes data obtained from January 2017 surveys, interviews, focus group discussions observations by the authors. authors observe that are symbiotic income generating enterprises. has greatly contributed reducing poverty, increasing productivity, facilitating value addition, conserving environment, halting biodiversity loss mitigating climate change. strongly hinged on training farmers organized groups more especially youth women.The involvement integrated farming introducing new innovations to improve production productivity agriculture through improved breeds livestock crops as well environmental conservation being pivotal operations, culminated agro-tourism district. recommend be implemented whole Uganda.
